Abstract

The article, titled “The factors of isolation and shyness in children and adolescents and its solutions" is a comprehensive review that explores the prevalent issues of isolation and shyness within Afghan society's youth. The article aims to identify various effective and practical strategies to address these challenges. The information presented is derived from a range of scientific and credible sources, including books and articles. The article defines isolation as a state of being alone, characterized by withdrawal from social gatherings and a preference for solitude. Individuals who are isolated tend to distance themselves from others. Shyness, similarly, is defined as a social emotion rooted in low self-esteem, which can, in severe cases, deeply impact a person's personality. Key indicators of isolation and shyness include excessive daydreaming, feeling burdened by others' expectations, resisting these pressures, failing to assert one's rights, and struggling to build relationships with peers and educators, among other signs. The article identifies several major causes of isolation and shyness, such as chronic adversity, poverty, feelings of inadequacy or guilt, physical weakness or disabilities, arrogance, deep humiliation, academic struggles, rejection by family and school, feelings of hatred and a desire for revenge, fear and insecurity, family conflicts, divorce, inability to respond to challenging questions posed by peers, impatience in forming relationships, lack of positive social models in the family, deprivation of maternal affection, absence of a father figure, parental addiction, repeated failures, prolonged illness, and continuous, unjustified criticism and discrimination by parents and teachers. These factors collectively contribute to the development of isolation and shyness in children and adolescents.
