Abstract

Current research examines and evaluates linguistic topics related to the
secondary school curriculum in Pashto to develop a balanced and
enriched curriculum in Pashto for schools. The evaluation of the Pashto
curriculum for the secondary school level has utilized the selected
checklist by Damir and Irtas (2014), and the issues are explained using
a descriptive methodology. The findings indicate that the curriculum of
the Pashto subject under the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan has
been assessed as having more than 60% inadequacy in terms of content
and subjects, core and peripheral skills, organization, physical structure,
and academic considerations, which according to Damir's checklist
lacks acceptance and operational capability. The findings of this
research are of vital importance in the process of developing a new
Pashto curriculum, and its implementation will lead to a standardized
curriculum.
