Narcotics or Drugs are chemical or natural compounds that have a specific
effect on the human mind and body, cause addiction and can cause physical
or psychological dependence. Unfortunately, Afghanistan is one of the
countries with the highest number of drug addicts and the number is increasing
day by day. Fortunately, with the advent of the Islamic Emirate, there has been
a significant decrease in the number of addicts and drug addiction. There are
various factors that contribute to the increase in the number of drug addicts in
Afghanistan, such as cultivation, poverty, unemployment, lack of public
awareness, lack of implementation of the law, lack of alternatives, the
international market and lack of education. Drugs affect not only humans but
also animals, which results in an increase in crime in society. The purpose of
this literature review is to clearly explain the factors behind the increase in
drug addiction and the solutions. The results of this study revealed that the
increase in drug addiction has very dangerous consequences that, in addition
to the health of our families, communities and children, also play a
fundamental role in committing crimes. In order to reduce the factors and
effects of the increase in drug addiction in society and reduce the crime rate
to zero, the government should provide alternative crops to drugs, job
opportunities for youth, and engage addicts who have recovered from drug
addiction in vocational and professional occupations to prevent them from
becoming addicted again.
