Lexicography is recognized as an independent and interdisciplinary branch of linguistics, closely related to lexicology, computational linguistics, and source studies. This study analyzes the scientific foundations, theoretical perspectives, and practical principles of lexicography. It explains the basic concepts, types, etymology, and structure of dictionaries and introduces three main types based on language: monolingual, bilingual, and multilingual dictionaries. The research is conducted using descriptive and explanatory methods in a library-based format. According to Hartmann, seven fundamental principles of lexicography, including purpose and user principle, selection, definition, arrangement, and sources, are examined. The findings show that lexicography is not merely a technical process but a scientific and standardized procedure requiring linguistic, psychological, and technical foundations for selecting, defining, and systematically presenting lexical units.
