The Use of Proverbs in the Poetry Collection “Da Wino -e-Daryab”

Abstract

Proverbs reflect the collective wisdom of society, shaped by folk knowledge and accepted values of a particular time. Their significance lies in illustrating how they function within poetic literary works. The poetry collection Daryab-e-Wino incorporates various literary devices, with particular emphasis on irsal al-mathal (the use of proverbs). When a poet includes a well-known proverb in verse, it is regarded as the literary device of irsal al-mathal, which is closely connected to proverbs. This study views irsal al-mathal as an effective means of attracting the audience’s attention and strengthening poetic expression. The main objective of this research is to identify and analyze the use of this literary device in the mentioned work. The study is library-based in nature and employs analytical, comparative, and descriptive methods.
