Abstract

Humor and lightheartedness are natural human needs that contribute to happiness and social interaction. Jokes, mockery, and casual conversations are common among Muslims, particularly young people, in gatherings, social events, media, and celebrations. However, the boundaries between permissible and impermissible forms of joking, mockery, and casual conversation are often not properly observed. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the Islamic ruling on mockery, jokes, and casual conversations and to distinguish between permissible and prohibited practices in light of Islamic Sharia. The study employed a library-based research method, examining and analyzing relevant Islamic and scholarly sources. The findings indicate that Islam is a comprehensive religion that provides principles and rulings for various aspects of human life. Therefore, jokes, mockery, and casual conversations should be conducted in accordance with the principles of Islamic Sharia and within its prescribed boundaries.
